INITIATIVE / 7 NOVEMBER
The initiative for the International Day of Living with Wood explores the role of wood in creating healthy, responsible and meaningful living environments that support quality of life.
Following the signing of the declaration of support, the initiative is entering its next phase: bringing together professionals, educational institutions, businesses, designers, architects, local communities and international partners.
Our aim is for 7 November to become a recognised day of the culture of living with wood — a day that connects people, space, nature and the future.
Living with wood means living closer to nature, more connected to the spaces we inhabit and closer to ourselves.
INITIATIVE IN DEVELOPMENT
At the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, we publicly presented the initiative for the International DAY OF LIVING WITH WOOD® for the first time. Representatives of research, educational, business and professional organisations supported its development by signing the declaration.
We presented the initiative at Habitat Day at the Faculty of Design in Ljubljana and opened the question of how space, natural materials and our living habits together shape the quality of life.
At the Ambient & les fair at the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, we are preparing a moderated conversation at 16:15, HOW WILL WE LIVE WITH WOOD? From the home and interior to tourism, public space and new technologies, we will explore the future of living.
As part of the initiative to establish 7 November as an international day, we will also invite people to share its message through a video, first presented at Habitat Day, which opens the question: How do we want to live? Recordings of the webinar series “A Wooden House: From Decision to Home”, prepared in cooperation with LYNXCRAFT, will also be available.
We invite you to join the observance — with a story, a good example, an event or a reflection on how the spaces we live in, and our connection with wood, together shape the quality of living.
ABOUT THE INITIATIVE
The Day of Living with Wood is an initiative dedicated to wood as a natural material that connects people, space, nature and the future. It brings to the fore the quality of living, a responsible relationship with materials, the beauty of space and the conscious choice of wood in architecture, the home, furniture and everyday objects.
The initiative opens a space for a new culture of living, in which wood is not only a material, but a bearer of our relationship with space, people, nature and the future.
We aim to develop 7 November as a day of the culture of living and coexisting with wood. In our homes, workplaces, public spaces, furniture and everyday objects, wood is not only a material, but part of the environment that influences our wellbeing, our relationship with space and our connection with nature.
It is a day for a conversation about more conscious living — with a greater sense of material, origin, sustainability, healthy spaces, beauty, knowledge and the long-term value of the environment we live in.

The initiative for the International DAY OF LIVING WITH WOOD® originates in Slovenia and is open to international cooperation. Our aim is to develop 7 November as a shared day of awareness, exchange of knowledge and inspiration in the culture of living with wood.
We invite research and educational institutions, professional organisations, architects, designers, companies and communities from different countries to take part. We want to connect research insights, experience and good practice, and bring them closer to the wider public.
We place one question at the centre: How do we want to live?
We are interested in spaces and ways of living that support wellbeing, vitality, relationships, creativity and a connection with nature. From the home and the workplace to public spaces and places of rest, we explore how architecture, design and our living habits together shape the quality of everyday life, and what role wood plays in this.
Support the initiative, share your knowledge or present an example of good practice.
We invite experts from different fields to propose a professional contribution, a project presentation or a conversation about the quality of living and the role of wood in our living environment for the portal www.slowoodlife.com. We prepare the content in editorial cooperation, with the authors and participating organisations credited.
Through contributions and conversations, we want to bring this knowledge closer to people and encourage them to shape their spaces and way of life more consciously.
Around 7 November, you can also organise a conversation, a visit, a workshop, an exhibition or another activity in your own community, connected with the culture of living with wood.
For content proposals and cooperation, write to us at office@slowoodlife.com.
The founding circle marks the beginning of the initiative. The next phase opens space for broader cooperation with companies, organisations, creators and other partners who want to help shape the culture of living with wood.
We invite companies and organisations that, through their knowledge, products, services or projects, contribute to quality living, sustainable development, the design of space, timber construction, interior design, furniture, architecture or experiences with wood.
Partnership enables active involvement in the content and communication activities around 7 November, and greater visibility within the initiative. For more information about partnership opportunities, write to us at:
office@slowoodlife.com
We will be glad to hear from you. After we receive your message, we will send you more information about the possibilities of cooperation and partnership within the initiative.
In the coming months, together with partners, we will develop content, examples of good practice, expert highlights, media coverage and activities leading to the first wider observance of 7 November.
Companies and organisations can join as partners of the initiative by presenting their solutions, knowledge, projects, products or stories that contribute to the culture of living with wood, sustainable development and a quality living environment.
